Find your local office <a href=\"https:\/\/dss.sd.gov\/findyourlocaloffice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>WIC (Women, Infants, &amp; Children)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">WIC promotes the wellbeing and health of low-income women, infants, and children.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The program provides education for creating positive eating habits and making healthy choices.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The program provides food vouchers that can be used at grocery stores throughout the state.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To receive aid from WIC, you must have an infant, child younger than five, or be a woman or teenage girl that is pregnant, up to six months after pregnancy, or is breastfeeding up to twelve months after birth.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You must meet income guidelines to qualify for the program or be a recipient of SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, or FDPIR.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To register, use the following link to find a clinic near you:&nbsp; &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sdwic.org\/locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sdwic.org \/locations<\/a> or call (605) 773-3361 or 1-800-738-2301<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Food Pantries<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Food pantries are generally non-profit organizations that distribute food to those that struggle to buy enough food to avoid hunger.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There is often a limit on how often people can visit.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Recipients may need ID and piece of mail to provide proof of mailing address.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Soup Kitchens<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Soup kitchens serve free, nutritious meals for people who lack resources needed to buy or prepare food.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Locations and times may vary by community.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participants rarely need to establish eligibility for the service.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Community Meals<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Community meals are free meals that are served at special community events or informal gatherings.
