SAS Monthly Support Group
For the month of June only, we will be hosting our support group meeting in a slightly different format. The June SAS meeting will take place on Thursday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m., at the Helpline Center offices. Since we have two new Survivor’s Voices graduates, we are going to give them an opportunity to share a brief version of their stories. They will be joined by other Survivor’s Voices participants who will also give a brief account of their stories. The stories will be followed by any support group attendees who would like to address questions to the panel. We plan on serving refreshments and all are welcome. In July, we will return to our ongoing format of unscripted sharing from all members who attend.
Our support groups are held at the Helpline Center in an atmosphere that is warm, friendly, and nonjudgmental. Anyone who has lost a family member or friend is invited to attend. Feelings shared are kept confidential and discussed only within the confines of the group meeting. Thus, our SAS support groups provide a comfortable, non-threatening setting to share our experiences and thoughts. Questions are encouraged to help in coping with the grieving process and with the feelings that are particularly intense in the aftermath of suicide. We end our discussion sessions by sharing something positive that has recently taken place or something good that you are anticipating. There is no fee and no registration is required.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Grief Support Coordinator, Jennie Marks at 605-274-1416 or prevention@helplinecenter.org.
The Helpline Center is located at 1000 N. West Ave., Suite 310, Sioux Falls, SD 57104
