Surviving After Suicide Class
The Surviving After Suicide Class is designed to help survivors of suicide express and understand the troubling grief, stigma, sadness and pain they feel in a safe and supportive environment. The Helpline Center is pleased to offer this ten-week education/support class for survivors of suicide. Each class focuses on a unique aspect of survivor grief and is followed by a support session allowing members to share their stories. The supportive mourning process is guided by participant needs and includes materials organized to address survivor’s needs and emotions after a suicide loss. It includes straightforward information about practical strategies for coping and healing.
The classes are held three times each year, beginning on the first Tuesday in January, April and September. The SAS Class is held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. for 10 consecutive weeks. There is no charge for the class or materials, but pre-registration is required along with a commitment to attend all ten sessions. This class is for adults ages 18 plus. Our next class begins on Tuesday, January 8th at the Helpline Center, 1000 N. West Ave. in Sioux Falls. Please call Jennie Marks at 605-274-1416 or email prevention@helplinecenter.org for pre-registration information.
